If I don’t laugh, I will certainly cry! Both the Government and Eskom tell us that we must not use unnecessary electricity (especially office blocks over weekends and after hours). Then we see that the main culprits are the Government buildings all over the country – lights ablaze all weekend. I mean, it’s not as if our civil servants actually work over the weekends is it?! Or barely at all for that matter!

So the philosophy of leading by example once again passes over the heads of those that rule! Of course, it’s pretty difficult to recommend that philosophy when one looks at the current (excuse the pun) lot and those who will almost certainly lead in future – there are so few good examples, if any at all?

Look at the situation with our hospitals and clinics – having practically destroyed any medical care our people are hoping to receive in Government hospitals, the Ministry of Health now wants to poke its inefficient nose  into the affairs of private medical schemes – who are running quite well thank you and don’t need any interference at all.

The people who need immediate assistance are the poor and the unemployed who are forced to visit Government hospitals and clinics to seek medical care – so the Health Ministry needs to focus its attention on remedying the glaring lack of resource and expertise in that field before moving on so confidently to pastures new! I could go on and on – pick a department any department as they say – but I think that’s enough for now, don’t you? On a lighter note – actually I can’t think of one at the moment – sorry!
